the real random card generator
If you’ve recently seen some buzz about Jeff Prace’s random card generator, then this post is for you. If not, then go away.
It’s the coolest non-card card thing in recent memories. Whatever that means. Basically it’s a card perforated to be torn into small square pieces, and each piece has a number or a suit printed on it. After all the pieces are separated, it’s put into a cup, shaken, and dumped out. Face down pieces are eliminated, and the process repeats until only one suit and one number is left. The final suit and number are forced. The best part is that it’s completely hands off. You put aside a playing card as a prediction, then hand them the random card generator, and they do the rest. It’s 100% self working, and it’s dope af. Jeff openly shares methods to all his products, so you can read about it on his site here.
Here are a few simple ideas I have with it.
The card eliminator.
Set up: replace the 7 of diamonds with one with a different back.
Entire deck is spread on the table face up at the start- 7D is somewhere in the middle. Each round of the process, they remove all the cards that are not in the face up pieces. You eventually land on 7D. Then turn the rest of the cards face down to show the backs. Then reveal the 7D is the only odd backed card. The cut down.
Set up: your favorite spectator cut to aces routine except with sevens. Make sure 7D is the last card they cut to.
Shuffle and keep your 4-card stack in place. They do the shake and dump first. Then the first cut is made. Now, it may take more than 4 times to get down to 7D. So, you can skip if you see that’s the case. Try to have them cut the 4th time before the last shake ‘n dump. You reveal that they got the 7D on the last cut. But they didn’t just get that one… they got all the other sevens too!The self contained.
Instead of using a glass, use the card box. Keep the RCG inside the box with the cards. When you perform, just give them the card box, and have them dump out everything inside. No need for the deck, so that can be placed aside.
Have them tear and drop the pieces inside the card box, and go through the shake ‘n dump process until they land on the 7D.
For the reveal, tell them they’ve been using the prediction the whole time, and direct their attention to the back design side of the box- where they will find the 7D card tucked in between the box and cellophane.
Set up:
This is hands-off procedure in the best way because the instructions are given once, and it’s simple to follow and repeat. Loads of potential. Let me know if you come up with any cool ideas!

I have a card generator idea too- not as cool as RCG- but link here if you wanna. :)
